Duties and responsibilities: The most important responsibility for an emergency nurse is understanding triage, which is a method of prioritizing injuries based on medical need. An emergency nurse must have the ability to make quick and accurate assessments about incoming patients, including both physical and mental health conditions. Other responsibilities include moving patients, taking blood samples, cleaning and bandaging wounds, administering medications and maintaining proper supplies of medical equipment.

Salary: $80,000 to $128,000


Education: In order to work in the field of a trauma nurse, you must start your venture with basic nursing training. You must also work to become a licensed registered nurse. Registered nurses are required to obtain a diploma, associate’s degree, or bachelor’s degree. Even if you earn a bachelor degree (BSN), it is recommended that you become certified as a trauma nurse specialist (TNS), or a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN). This may be accomplished through the Board of Certification in Emergency Nursing. The certifications are awarded after you pass the 16-hour course

Duties and responsibilities: Cardiologists are physicians who have received additional training to prevent, diagnose and treat conditions of the cardiovascular system, which includes the heart and the body's blood vessels. On a daily basis, cardiologists see patients referred by their primary physicians. These patients have conditions requiring the attention of a specialist, such as dizziness, shortness of breath and heart rhythm problems. It's the cardiologist's duty to diagnose, treat and manage the patient's condition.   The roles and responsibilities of a cardiologist can vary, but certain generalities are possible.

Salary:   $346,266 and $457,921 per year.


Education: Before practicing as a cardiologist, physicians must graduate from medical school, complete a residency and become board-certified in internal medicine, and then complete a fellowship in cardiology. Cardiology residencies typically last three years, and fellowships are a minimum of three years, making at least six years of training beyond medical school.

A working understanding of life sciences and medical terminology is required.
